‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ Reboot Sets Summer 2025 Release at Columbia Pictures
Sony and Columbia Pictures have set the upcoming reboot to “I Know What You Did Last Summer” for release on July 18, 2025.
The film joins a release slot alongside Paramount’s upcoming revival of “The Naked Gun” starring Liam Neeson. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, co-writer of “Thor: Love and Thunder,” will direct.
Written by “Scream” series co-creator Kevin Williamson, “I Know What You Did Last Summer” was one of the most successful horror films of the 90s. The 1997 film follows four college students and former friends who are hunted by a hook-wielding killer one year after hitting a mysterious figure with their car.
“I Know What You Did Last Summer” made its cast, led by Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr. and a pre-“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” Sarah Michelle Gellar, into superstars among Gen X teens. Hewitt and Prinze returned for a sequel in 1998, with a third film consisting of an entirely new cast being released in 2006. Amazon released a streaming series based on the film in 2021.
Robinson will direct from a script she co-wrote with Sam Lansky after an initial script from Leah McKendrick. Neal Moritz is producing.
More to come…
