A Tesco cashpoint is closed after a driver ploughed into it. It happened in Kenilworth on Monday (April 15).

It is believed a woman driving a Škoda careered into the ATM at Tesco Express on Leyes Lane. Nobody was injured in the incident, it is understood.

Tesco told CoventryLive that the ATM remains closed. Contractors will be carrying out repairs in the coming days and are 'working to open it as soon as possible.'

It comes after a West Midlands-based gang caused around £1m damage to the Kenilworth Tesco Express in September 2023. Justin Buckley, Chris Hands, Reece Pedley, and John O'Shaughnessy sparked a large fire when trying to steal the ATM.

Buckley, Hands, Pedley, and O'Shaughnessy, targeted businesses in Coventry, Warwickshire, and the West Midlands over the space of a year between 2022 and 2023. All four men were jailed at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday, April 8.

A spokesman for Tesco said: “Our cashpoint at the Kenilworth Leyes Lane Express store is currently closed following an incident on Monday (April 15). We are sorry for the inconvenience and are working to open it as soon as possible.”
