Krasnodar Governor Says Ilsky Oil Refinery Fire Extinguished

The governor of Russia’s Krasnodar region said on Thursday that an overnight oil refinery fire in Ilsky had been extinguished.

“A second restless night for our emergency services,” Veniamin Kondratyev wrote on his Telegram channel.

“The fire of tanks with oil products at the Ilsky oil refinery in the Seversky district has been confirmed. Fire brigades and employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations are already working, consisting of 48 people and 16 pieces of equipment. On my instructions, the head of the district is also at the scene,” he said.

Kondratyev later said the fire was contained and put out with no injuries recorded.

It was the second fire at a Krasnodar oil facility in as many days. On Wednesday, a large fire was reported in Volna, about 100 km west of Ilsky and near the Kerch bridge which connects Russia to occupied Crimea. Credit: Veniamin Kondratyev via Storyful
