Yahoo News Kristen Wiig Favors Playful Elegance in Adam Lippes Crop Top and Tulle Skirt for ‘Despicable Me 4’ NYC Red Carpet Premiere
Kristen Wiig brought modern elegance to the red carpet premiere of her new animated film “Despicable Me 4” on Sunday in New York City. The “Palm Royale” star and “Saturday Night Live” alum fashioned a playful look ideal for the event.
For the occasion, Wiig wore a selection from Adam Lippes fall 2024 ready-to-wear collection. The black ensemble featured a sleeveless black cropped top with a crewneck neckline, paired with a voluminous, semisheer skirt with white polka dots cascading in perfect symmetry across the fabric.

The high-waisted midi skirt featured tulle fabric. Wiig added a pop of color her to look with a pair of blush pink, pointed-toe heels. Wiig’s bobbed auburn hair was styled by Ben Skervin in soft waves, while her makeup by Jenn Streicher featured bold black eyeliner. Wiig’s look was curated by stylist Karla Welch, who’s also worked with such clients as Greta Gerwig and Sarah Paulson, among other A-list stars.
Wiig’s designer look from Adam Lippes’ fall 2024 ready-to-wear collection made its official debut as part of New York Fashion Week last February. The Adam Lippes design was featured among a collection of looks where tailoring, sportswear and edgy elegance was championed by Lippes.
Lippes described the designs in this collection as being “a little out of my comfort zone, which is a good thing.”
With his previous experience at Ralph Lauren and Oscar de la Renta, Lippes was able to merge his sportswear sensibility with a touch of elegance. The result was a tougher look that gave an edge to formalwear pieces and designs.
Since the debut of his fall 2024 ready-to-wear collection, Lippes has continued to expand his fashion empire. Lippes is opening a shopping salon on Fifth Avenue and 64th Street, which happens to be in an apartment where venerated singer Donna Summer once lived.
“We’d been looking for something on Madison and thinking about how to compete with the super brands because not only are their spaces a million dollars a month, the build-outs are so extreme. And our clothes are as beautiful and luxurious as theirs,” Lippes said regarding the major announcement.
Wiig returns alongside Steve Carell, Joey King, Miranda Cosgrove and more stars for the latest installment in the “Despicable Me” animated film series. The movie hits theaters July 3.
