Kristen Wiig Says Working with Carol Burnett Has Made Her a 'Better Person': 'I Just Love Her'
Wiig and Burnett star opposite each other in the upcoming Apple TV+ series, 'Palm Royale'
Kristen Wiig is singing the praises of her Palm Royale costar, Carol Burnett.
At the Los Angeles premiere of the upcoming Apple TV+ series on Thursday, the 50-year-old comedian told PEOPLE that the legendary performer has “become a very good friend of mine.”
“We have dinner and talk and text and she's so funny,” Wiig shared. “I did press with her yesterday and she was cracking everybody up.”
“And I am a better person from knowing her. I just love her,” she added.

On Palm Royale, Wiig stars as Maxine Simmons, who is trying to gain access to the exclusive Palm Beach high society in 1969 while Burnett, 90, takes on the role of Norma, who is described as "the grande dame of Palm Beach high society."
The Saturday Night Live alum previously told Entertainment Tonight that she was thrilled for the opportunity to work with the comedy legend.
"I literally said today, 'I still can't believe that we work together,'" she shared. "I wanna like verify that it's her. I'm like, 'It's Carol, right? Yeah, I mean, it's Carol.'”

“And for me, just with sketch comedy and everything she did for every person, every woman, she's such an inspiration,” she added. “It was the crew, everyone. I mean, she's just a dream."
Burnett returned the compliment to the Bridesmaids star while also praising their costars Allison Janney and Laura Dern.
"Oh stop," Burnett told Wiig. "When I heard who was going to be in this project, I didn't even have to read it — I have to work with Kristen. I have to work with Allison and, well, I know and — I have to say, I'm thrilled. Maybe it's a spoiler, but I have so many wonderful scenes with this one and I have been a fan of yours."
"To be able to be in the same room and to film with her is just, it was…," she added, her voice trailing off in wonder.
The comedy series from creator Abe Sylvia — which was first announced in June 2022 — is based on Juliet McDaniel's 2018 novel Mr. and Mrs. American Pie. It also stars Leslie Bibb, Amber Chardae Robinson, Josh Lucas, Mindy Cohn, Julia Duffy and Kaia Gerber with special guest star Bruce Dern.
