The Queen of Versailles is getting closer to Broadway.

Last week, producers for the new musical adaptation of Lauren Greenfield’s award-winning 2012 documentary — about socialite Jacqueline “Jackie” Siegel and "Timeshare King" husband David Siegel's still-unfinished $100 million quest to build the biggest private home in America — announced it will make its world premiere at Boston’s historic Emerson Colonial Theatre this summer.

Starring Tony and Emmy award winner Kristin Chenoweth as Jackie and Oscar winner F. Murray Abraham as David, The Queen of Versailles will begin performances on Tuesday, July 16. The strictly limited five-week engagement plays through Sunday, Aug. 18.

Like the documentary itself, the musical will explore "the true cost of fame, fortune, and family" through the eyes of Jackie and David, whose dreams begin to crumble — along with their lavish lifestyle — while building their grandiose mansion in Orlando, Florida with the Great Recession of 2008 looming.

"The American Dream is still under construction," a tagline for the musical reads in a trailer shared on social media.

Chenoweth, 55, is once again teaming up with celebrated Oscar-winning songwriter Stephen Schwartz for The Queen of Versailles, her former collaborator in Wicked. He's also the composer behind such beloved Broadway scores such as Pippin and Godspell, and has contributed lyrics to a number of popular films such as Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Prince of Egypt and Enchanted.

The highly anticipated new musical — produced by Bill Damaschke and Chenoweth — also features a book by Lindsey Ferrentino (Ugly Lies the Bone, Amy and the Orphans) and direction is by Tony winner Michael Arden (Parade, Once on This Island).

In addition to Chenoweth and Abraham, 84, The Queen of Versailles will also feature Here Lies Love’s Melody Butiu as Sofia Flores, and Kimberly Akimbo’s Nina White as Victoria Siegel. More cast and creative team members will be announced at a later date.

Tickets for The Queen of Versailles will go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 10 a.m. ET. More information and exclusive presale options are available at www.emersoncolonialtheatre.com.

Last March, PEOPLE shared an exclusive photo from Chenoweth's meeting with Jackie Siegel, which took place backstage at the Artis—Naples in Florida, a day after an industry reading of the musical took place in New York City.

The duo were all smiles for the snap, with Chenoweth wearing a bedazzled hot pink spaghetti strap dress. She accessorized the look with silver shoes, a matching chain necklace and pink studded earrings.

Meanwhile, Jackie, 58, donned a sparkling beige wrap dress with a hot pink "Queen of Versailles" sash bordered in gold across her chest. The beauty queen and TV personality carried a white fluffy shawl and also wore brown heels and a diamond necklace with pink diamond accents. A matching crown sat on top of her head.

Fans hoping to see the completion of Jackie's home can tune into The Queen of Versailles Reigns Again, a 2022 reality series that follows Jackie and David's work to finish construction on their home. More than 20 years in the making, the 90,000 square-foot property includes five kitchens, a 35-car garage, a 150-person dining room, ballroom and a British-style pub.

The series is now streaming on Max and Discovery+.
