Krystian Bielik asks John Eustace for help after Birmingham City slip up at Rotherham

Krystian Bielik is hoping Birmingham City will receive a favour from their former boss John Eustace tomorrow when his Blackburn Rovers side play Sheffield Wednesday.

Blues are still embroiled in the battle at the bottom after failing to defeat already relegated Rotherham United on Saturday. Bielik and his teammates could only muster a 0-0 draw at the New York Stadium.

Huddersfield’s heavy defeat to Swansea City softened the blow but Wednesday could push Blues back into the bottom three if they overcome Blackburn. Meanwhile, a win for Eustace’s side will effectively guarantee they play Championship football next season.

“I will call John Eustace and I will beg him to win,” said Bielik. “If they win tomorrow I think they will be safe so hopefully they are on it and can help us a little bit to reach our aim.”

Bielik viewed the Rotherham result as a chance missed, especially after the way Blues dismantled Coventry City last week. The game at Huddersfield now has even greater significance.

Bielik commented: “I don’t think we found our rhythm today. There was the accident with the fan at the beginning, then some players going down every 10 minutes - we don’t blame them, sometimes it happens - but it was difficult to find that rhythm. I don’t think we were good enough today.

“We have to take some lessons from that because the game against Huddersfield might be similar to this one. Everything is in our hands. We need to go to Huddersfield and beat them.

"They don’t have an easy time, especially after two big losses. We are trying to stay positive. The mood is OK after the game, the dressing room is obviously quiet. This is not what we expected but everything is still in our hands.

“We will be wishing Blackburn all the best tomorrow. I hope they can get a good result against Sheffield Wednesday and we can go again.”
