Kurdish Fighters Are Making DIY Tanks To Fight ISIS In Iraq and Syria

Syrian and Iraqi Kurdish fighters are building their own armoured vehicles in their fight to defeat ISIS forces.

While these militias have been supported by US airstrikes - they are largely self-funded explaining their DIY approach to heavy armour.

These rather bulky-looking vehicles are being used in the Northern Iraqi province of Sinjar to clear the way for Kurdish peshmergas in their attempt to push ISIS back.

While they may be makeshift - the Times report that each such vehicle can cost up to £20,000 to build and six moths of work to complete.

Inside these ‘tanks’ mattresses are used inside to help dampen blast impact.
