Kyle Chrisley isn't letting a broken bond with his father, Todd Chrisley, stop him from expressing his continued love for him.

For this past Father's Day on Sunday, June 16, Kyle, 32, shared a photo on his Instagram Stories of Todd, 55, holding him when he was a baby. The picture was accompanied by an emotional caption, addressing the current state of their relationship.

"Happy Father's Day Todd Chrisley," the tribute began, per a Reddit screenshot. "Even though you won't talk to me... I miss your 'goodnight I love you son' texts more than you know. If only things were different..."

Kyle and Todd have experienced many ups and downs in their relationship over the years. Due to Kyle's longtime issues with substance abuse, he was only a series regular on his family's Chrisley Knows Best series in its first season. His struggles also resulted in Todd and his wife, Julie Chrisley, becoming the legal guardians of his now 11-year-old daughter, Chloe Chirlsey.

Chloe, however, has remained under the care of Kyle's sister Savannah Chrisley — alongside brother Grayson Chrisley — as Todd and Julie, 51, serve time in prison for fraud and tax evasion. Although Kyle was on speaking terms with Todd before he reported to prison in January 2023, the two have since entered another period of estrangement.

Savannah, 26, confirmed the family's estrangement from Kyle — and their sister Lindsie Chrisley — during an October 2023 appearance on the Oldish podcast.

"My two oldest siblings are from my dad’s first marriage [with Teresa Terry]," Savannah explained. "Over the years, I feel like there’s been a lot of anger and resentment just over the fact that my parents were together [and] theirs weren't."

That same month, Savannah also told PEOPLE that given her increased responsibilities since her parents reported to prison, she doesn't "have room for people that don't want to show up and show up in a healthy manner." The Unlocked podcast later confirmed in April that she "privately" told Lindsie, 34, not to attend their parents' appeal hearing.

"I told her that she was not wanted, that my dad did not want her there and that he didn't care to have a relationship with her," Savannah said.

Despite much of the family's estrangement from Kyle and Lindsie, their grandmother Nanny Faye Chrisley is still in contact with both of them. In fact, Nanny Faye previously appeared on Lindsie's The Southern Tea podcast and spoke about remaining in touch with Kyle, noting that she will talk "to him at least once or twice a day."

"He comes and eats. We get together. He comes, we grill out hamburgers. Him and [his wife] Ashleigh. The kids come and the door is always open," she explained of their hangouts. "He kept my dog this weekend. I met him. We went to the Waffle House. He hugged me and this morning, he calls me at 5:30 because he knows I'm up and we talk."

Nanny Faye added, "Even when he works all night long, sometimes he'll call me at 1 or 2 in the morning and say, 'Nanny, you asleep?' Sometimes I am. Sometimes I'm not, but we always talk."
