Kym Marsh has been left 'overwhelmed' by her son-in-law's efforts in memory of her dad months after his death. The actress and presenter was left devastated earlier this year when she and her family confirmed the death of David Marsh.

The sad news came after David, known as Dave, shared his prostate cancer diagnosis in 2021. He appeared on BBC's Morning Live with Kym and his wife Pauline after he wanted to make others aware of the symptoms and to seek medical help.

In November 2023, Kym's parents appeared on the BBC One programme to provide an update with Kym, 47, saying they were living "day by day" as her father’s cancer had spread into his bones before it was announced on January 12 that Dave had sadly died.

Kym's son-in-law Mikey Hoz, who is married to Kym's daughter Emilie, has since set about running the London Marathon as part of the team, David Marsh and his Moustacher's, which took place on Sunday (April 21).

On his Just Giving page, Mikey said: "This page is in memory of David Marsh, Dave to most. The most loving husband, Dad, Grandad and Great Grandad, and the best friend you would ever know. Dave had a 3 year battle with prostate cancer and for those 3 years he fought valiantly and with a smile on his face and with always a joke to hand. He was the bravest man we knew. A hero and a legend.

"Throughout his battle he was so grateful to those who cared for him. Not least Macmillan and Prostate Cancer UK and he strived to raise awareness of prostate cancer and to ensure that other men went to get regular checks from their Dr’s. His goal was to save people’s lives and to ensure that others didn’t go through the pain and suffering that he and his family endured.

"To a vast extent he achieved this, but his final request was that this didn’t stop when he passed. He wanted us to ensure that his legacy lived on and that we as a family did all we could to help others and to raise awareness of prostate cancer. It was also his wish to acknowledge the care, compassion and support that Macmillan gave to him and to our family throughout his illness. They truly were incredible and they are still offering support today."

He added: "To that end his final thank you is to raise as much money as we can for both. So we created this page so that others can show support of this great man and the amazing people and charities who took the greatest care of him when he needed them the most. Please donate what you can and ensure that Dave’s legacy lives on. Thank you."

And Mikey completed the huge annual event in an amazing four hours and 31 minutes. Heaping praise on her son-in-law alongside a string of pictures of him in action as well as them cheering him on in the capital on the sidelines, Kym said: "Well he did it!!!!! Our boy did it!! What a weekend that was! Such an emotional experience for everyone involved. Inspiring and uplifting and just generally filled us with love!

"So many people running for so many special reasons. Just in awe! She emotionally added: "Yesterday the love my daughter @listentoemilie has for you was shining like a beacon, the pride on her face, the worry every second, the panic when she thought you had stopped, the tears, the celebrations when she saw you, just melted my heart. There is no doubt that you are her hero.
