“I know this is going to sound crazy but somehow, the past is tied to all this,” says Gavin (Eoin Macken) at the opening of the trailer for the third and final season of NBC’s La Brea.

“I believe if we’re successful, we’re going to save all the people we love,” says Ty (Chiké Okonkwo).

La Brea follows an epic family adventure after a massive sinkhole opens in Los Angeles pulling people and buildings into a mysterious and dangerous primeval land where they have no choice but to band together to survive.

For those who haven’t followed the series from the beginning, the trailer also provides a recap of what has lead up to where the survivors who fell into the massive sinkhole that took them back to 10,000 B.C. are.

The cast also includes Natalie Zea, Jon Seda, Nicholas Gonzalez, Zyra Gorecki, Jack Martin, Veronica St. Clair, Rohan Mirchandaney, Lily Santiago, Josh McKenzie, Tonantzin Carmelo and Michelle Vergara Moore.

Deadline’s Rosy Cordero spoke with Macken last week on the red carpet, where he teased the final season. You can watch the interview below.

For Season 3, creator/showrunner David Appelbaum executive produces with Chris Hollier, Peter Traugott, Rachel Kaplan, Avi Nir and Alon Shtruzman. La Brea is produced by Universal Television and Australia’s Matchbox Pictures, both divisions of Universal Studio Group, in association with Keshet Studios.

La Brea Season 3 premieres January 9 at 9 pm on NBC.
