Labour wins Lewisham West and East Dulwich in landslide victory

Ellie Reeves, representing the Labour Party, has gained a majority in Lewisham West and East Dulwich and will now represent the constituency as its MP.

In this election, Ms Reeves won 27,406 votes, giving her a huge majority in the constituency.

She said: “With a Labour government we can begin the renewal our area and our country needs.

“Access to GP appointments, more teachers in our schools, more police on our streets, lower energy bills and economic stability.”

Volunteers began counting the votes at 10pm yesterday (Thursday, July 4) when the polls closed.

In 2023, there was a boundary review by the UK government which means that this is the first election in which Lewisham West and East Dulwich has been its own constituency.

Prior to these changes, Ms Reeves represented the Labour Party in the Lewisham West and Penge constituency, winning 61.2 per cent of the vote in the 2019 General Election.

Voters across Lewisham as a borough have historically favoured the Labour Party, with Labour taking seats across all Lewisham constituencies in the 2019 General Election – Deptford, Lewisham West and Penge, Dulwich and West Norwood.

An MP from the Labour Party has been elected in Lewisham East since 1992.
