EastEnders star Lacey Turner has said parenthood is the “hardest job” she’s ever had and says she considers her shifts filming the BBC soap a “rest” from her duties as a mother.
The 32-year-old and her husband Matt Kay welcomed baby Dusty last year and announced last month they are expecting a second child together.
But despite saying motherhood is “rewarding” she admits it is a lot tougher than her day job on Albert Square.
The Stacey Fowler actress made the comments during an appearance on ITV lunchtime panel show Loose Women on Friday (9 October).
Talking about being a new mum, she said: “It is definitely easier to go to work than it is to be a stay-at-home mum, I really take my hat off to mums who stay at home, it is the hardest job I've ever done.
“As lovely and rewarding as it is, it's definitely the toughest job, so I go to work for a rest.”
Discussing husband Kay, who has Dusty while Turner works, she added: “He is brilliant, he is so amazing with her.
“She adores him and he adores her. It's perfect and they adore spending time with each other, and he was happy to stay at home - it's 2020, why not?”
Dusty was born in July 2019 after the couple had previously suffered two miscarriages.
Turner admitted on the show the previous losses have left her struggling with anxiety during her current pregnancy.
She said: “I am still anxious and I probably always will be, which I think is normal if you have been on a journey like I have.
“I try to stay as positive as possible, but it's nice not to have time to sit and think about it, because Dusty takes up a lot of my time.”
Loose Women airs on ITV on weekdays from 12.30pm.
