Lamorne Morris is a lovesick poltergeist in “Ghosts ”first-look photos
The "New Girl" and "Fargo" actor hits it off with one of the ghosts on the April 11 episode of the hit comedy.
Lamorne Morris is no stranger to sitcoms, having spent seven years as noted cat dad Winston Bishop on New Girl. On April 11, Morris returns to the familiar format with a guest spot on CBS' hit comedy Ghosts.
Morris portrays Saul, a poltergeist eternally tethered to one person, unlike the ghosts of the Woodstone Bed and Breakfast, who are bound to the property. When a new B&B guest arrives with Saul in tow, he and Alberta (Danielle Pinnock) immediately hit it off, but what happens when it's time for checkout?
For his part, Morris had a great time playing specter with one of the funniest casts on TV.
"Everyone there was extremely inviting and encouraging," Morris tells Entertainment Weekly. "Working with Danielle as a scene partner was incredible. She’s so damn great at what she does. I worked with [director] Trent O’Donnell for years on New Girl and he’s one of the best in the business, always a joy to be around him. I’ve worked with Rose [McIver] and Utkarsh [Ambudkar] before, so they were awesome as usual."
He adds, jokingly, "Sure, they were kind of mean to me… but that's what friends do, right? They make you sleep in your car and say things like, 'Our trailers don’t work.' But I love them!"
Morris' character is a baseball player from the Negro League, before baseball was integrated by Jackie Robinson in 1947. The actor was given most of Saul's backstory, like where he played and how he died, but Morris has his own special details.
"I figured I’d also add in that Saul used to sleep in his car and used that to help prepare for what Utkarsh and Rose made me do," he notes.
Morris enjoyed his time on Ghosts so much that he'd "absolutely love to come back," adding, "It’s so damn funny and the entire cast are home run hitters in comedy."
Sounds like Saul rubbed off on him. Morris' episode of Ghosts airs Thursday, April 11, at 8:30pm ET/PT on CBS and streams next day on Paramount+.
