Lana Del Rey Thought She Was a Gemini for Years Before Learning Her True Astrological Chart: 'It's Insane'
"I lived my life as a Gemini — it’s insane — and then I found out I was four hours short," said Del Rey in a new interview with Harper's Bazaar
Lana Del Rey experienced a bit of an identity shock upon learning she'd been looking to the wrong astrological chart for years.
In a new interview with Harper's BAZAAR, the "A&W" singer-songwriter recalled thinking she was a Gemini for a significant amount of time before learning her astrological chart wasn't accurate, and she's actually a Cancer.
Asked about her main three astrological placements, Del Rey began by singing, "My Cancer is Sun, and my Leo is Moon" — a lyric from her 2021 song "Chemtrails Over the Country Club."
"What is my rising sign? It’s gotta be either a Gemini or a Cancer again… or a Scorpio? Scorpio Rising," said the Grammy-nominated musician. "I feel like I identify with Cancer qualities. I lived my life as a Gemini — it’s insane — and then I found out I was four hours short."
As a fan of astrology, Del Rey owned many objects adorned with Gemini symbols before learning her true zodiac makeup. Then, she had to buy new ones. "I threw out all of my 14-karat gold twin Gemini pendants and got lots of crabs in diamonds," recalled the "Summertime Sadness" star.
However, she does see many similarities between her own personality and the qualities Cancers often inhabit. "I’ve got a go bag. I’ve got a truck. I carry everything I have with me on my back just like a little crab," explained Del Rey, adding that she's a "total crybaby — tears all the time."
Two of the "Video Games" singer's big three astrological placements (Cancer Sun and Scorpio Rising) are water signs, which she's pleased with. "Water all the way, but I’ve got a lot of fire in me, though. I’m almost equal fire," said Del Rey. "I think that's where the Leo comes in."
Elsewhere in her new cover story interview with Harper's BAZAAR, Del Rey opened up about her relationship status while discussing the thrill of her fanbase in Arkansas and how the simplicity of her home has become an "accidental" litmus test for who she's dating.
“We had some fights over this house, a couple people,” she told the outlet. “They didn’t get it.”
The "Say Yes to Heaven" singer said a recent boyfriend "didn't get" her house. “I feel like even the most chill guy doesn’t really want to chill here,” Del Rey said. “Sadly, part of you knows … that ain’t it. … That one shocked me. I won’t name names and whatever, but that one really shocked me, that person. That was actually the end of a relationship.”
The performer realized he seemed to want the "idea of her" but not who she actually is.

"That’s a tough nut to swallow,” she said of the realization about her ex. “In that person’s case, there was something going on with them, like a little bubble ego. See, I don’t get to have one anymore. It’s been smashed to … what do you call it? Smithereens. I’m sure it’s somewhere in my toe. That’s it. I’d love to grow one."
She continued: "I’m learning how. I’m learning. I know what I want.”
(Del Rey was engaged to music industry exec Evan Winiker earlier this year, though it's unclear when they split or if she's speaking about him.)
