A lucky Lanarkshire shopper has scooped hundreds of pounds worth of goodies during a supermarket sweep.

Aldi's much-loved Supermarket Sweep challenge recently returned to Strathaven, and one local winner has raised £1275.08 for a foodbank of his choosing, while picking up £637.54 in Aldi favourites for himself.

Shopper Nicola Alexander was chosen as the winner of the competition and nominated her husband Christopher to take part in the five-minute trolley dash for charity on Thursday 30th May.

As well as taking home a trolley full of goodies, Christopher successfully found the hidden inflatable in store, meaning Aldi Scotland doubled the total value of their haul and donated the lump sum to Nicola’s nominated charity, Loaves & Fishes Foodbank.

Winner Nicola Alexander said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have been able to raise such a total for Loaves & Fishes Foodbank, it was fantastic meeting Lesley from the foodbank at the sweep and hearing more about the vital work they do for the community. Finding the inflatable flamingo was a great bonus, being able to double our total for Loaves & Fishes was super, and our daughter loved getting to pick a special buy!

“All the staff in the Strathaven store were amazing and couldn’t have been more helpful, they made it such a fun experience for everyone!”
