Former NYSNC singer Lance Bass has revealed how he stopped Britney Spears crying on her wedding night.

Spears married her childhood sweetheart Jason Alexander in quickie ceremony in Las Vegas in 2004, but she was soon left upset after realising she’d made a mistake.

However, Bass has revealed that he managed to completely change the pop singer’s mood by coming out to her as gay.

Appearing on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Bass recalled how he comforted his friend in her hotel room.

“It was the night that she got married the first time in Vegas to Jason. So I went up to Vegas to kind of see the craziness that was happening,” he said. “She was a little upset once she realised what she had done.

“And then she started, like, really crying and, like, she was so upset. “So I took her to her room and we were sitting on the bed and she wouldn’t stop crying, so I was like, ‘I’m gay.’”

“It made her stop crying,” he said. “She chuckled.”

He went onto say that Spears, whose marriage to Alexander was annulled after a just 55 hours ― was instantly supportive following his revelation. Bass himself is now married to Michael Turchin, having tied the knot back in December 2014.

Also during the interview, Bass opened up about NSYNC’s performance with Ariana Grande at Coachella in April.

“When Ariana Grande calls and says, ‘Hey, will you perform at Coachella on the main stage,’ you say yes,” he said.

On whether he’d like the band to headline a Las Vegas residency like Spears and Grande, he said: “I would like that, because I’m having babies next year, so it would be nice to be in one place. But I don’t know if the guys would want a Vegas residency or a stadium tour.”
