The owner of a Land Rover Discovery was left gobsmacked after discovering rude notes plastered on his vehicle after visiting a friend. Adam Chester parked his 4x4 in the Birmingham suburb of Harborne last July.

When he returned to the three-litre diesel SUV, he found the cheeky messages tucked into the driver's side door and the windscreen, criticising his choice of vehicle for city driving.

One handwritten note sarcastically asked: "Do you really need a big, polluting vehicle to get around a city? Have a nice day!"

The second card, a black-and-white mock advert featuring pictures of SUVs, said: "Do you drive a 4x4, Jeep, or Range Rover in the city? You could be entitled to free penis enlargement therapy on the NHS."

Adam, who considers himself to be environmentally conscious, said he wasn't angered by the anonymous fly-poster's actions, as he understood their point of view. He admitted to just being relieved that his Land Rover wasn't damaged, reports Birmingham Live.

The 47-year-old stated: "I'm all for people having an opinion and being allowed to protest. The oceans are rising, climate change is worrying, we have to be aware but it needs to go higher up the chain. Is the government doing enough?

"They didn't cause any damage to the car. If there was damage to the car, it would have been a different scenario."

Mr Chester, who has spent his entire life in Harborne without any problems, recently relocated a short way north to Bearwood with his partner.

The 4x4 driver, who also owns a property in Spain equipped with solar panels, shared photos of the notes on Facebook, where one woman revealed she received similar notes. Another man said that he had heard about SUV tyres being deflated in Dickens Heath, a few miles south of the city.

One social media user commented on his post: "Some people have way too much time on their hands." Another suggested: "Leave both messages inside the car with answers for tomorrow. On the small one, write 'Yes', on the large one write 'Already done'."
