All About Landon Barker’s Relationship with His Famous Dad Travis Barker
Landon Barker’s dad, Travis Barker, is one of his biggest inspirations
Landon Barker is following in the talented footsteps of his dad, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, and starting his own music career.
Travis and his ex-wife, Shanna Moakler, welcomed Landon on Oct. 9, 2003 — roughly a year before the couple got married. Travis and Moakler are also parents to daughter Alabama Barker, and Travis is a stepfather to Moakler’s first daughter from a previous marriage, Atiana De La Hoya.
The famous drummer's son has already made a name for himself in the music industry. In September 2023, Landon released his debut single, “Friends With Your Ex.” He also collaborated with Machine Gun Kelly on the song “Die in California” and signed with Travis’ record label DTA Records.
In July 2024, Travis revealed Landon's plans to join Blink-182 on tour as a guest artist. "I'm really proud of him," he told PEOPLE.
Here’s everything there is to know about Landon Barker’s relationship with his dad, Travis Barker.
Landon’s interest in music has been heavily influenced by Travis
Travis’ own music career has had a huge impact on Landon’s. He tagged along on tour with Blink-182 as a child and started making his own music when he was 15 years old.
In an interview with PEOPLE in October 2023, Landon talked about his dad’s influence on him.
“A lot of people either do exactly what their parents did or the complete opposite, and I’m one of those who wants to do exactly what my dad did,” he said.
Landon also went on to say that one of the best things he learned from Travis was to “work hard and focus,” saying that Travis still practices drumming every single day in his studio in the mornings.
“I’ve taken that with me,” he said. “No matter what I do, never settle and never stop doing what you love because that’s how you become great.”
They work on music together
Landon isn’t just inspired by Travis as the two also work together. Landon’s debut single, “Friends With Your Ex,” features Travis on production and drums. In 2023, Landon told PEOPLE that the collaboration was “an amazing process.”
The younger Barker also said that he had never been opposed to getting his dad’s help with his career. “I feel like I’d be stupid to not use my resources, what’s kind of around me and the people that are around me,” he said.
He went on to say that they had written “a bunch of songs” together and that Travis’s approval was important to him. “I want the song to inspire him, and I want the song to be appealing to him, and not just do it because I’m his son," Landon explained.
Travis also loved working with his son on the song. "To watch him grow up playing music and writing music since he was a kid has been a dream come true,” he added.
Landon has also been signed to Travis’ Elektra Imprint DTA Records label and insists it was something that wasn’t just handed to him.
“My dad would be like, ‘Show me that you want to sign,’ ” he said. “It wasn’t as easy as being like, ‘Sign me.’ I feel like I had to prove myself to get the opportunity to sign to them.”
They share a name
Landon’s first name is actually a family name. Landon is Travis’ middle name, and it came from the actor Michael Landon who starred in Little House on the Prairie.

Landon has helped elevate Travis’ style
Travis might be Landon’s inspiration when it comes to music, but as it turns out, Landon might have been Travis’ inspiration to improve his wardrobe.
In June 2022, while celebrating the launch of his co-designed collection with fashion brand boohooMAN, Landon spoke to PEOPLE about helping his dad's taste.
“As a baby, he would always put me in cool old rock band tees,” he said, speaking about Travis. “But honestly, I would say I got my dad into fashion more than he got me into fashion because when I was younger, all my dad would wear is black Dickies and a punk rock T-shirt for years. I would just wear random stuff or I’d just dress super high-fashion.”
Landon added that he thinks Travis’ wife, Kourtney Kardashian, also got Travis to step up his style.
“[For] the longest time I was even more fashionable than my dad I’d say, but he stepped it up a lot. Now he can out-dress me,” he said.
Landon isn't discouraged when he’s compared to his dad
In a 2023 interview with PEOPLE, Landon was asked if it made him nervous to be compared to his dad when it comes to his music. He replied, “Yes and no. I feel like as long as my music speaks to however many people, that’s all that matters to me, honestly.”
During a conversation with Variety that same year about his tune "Friends With Your Ex," he expanded on the sentiment, saying that he takes “the internet with a grain of salt” and tries not to focus on the comments.
“I mean, if the song’s incredible everyone’s going to be like, ‘It’s because he got help from his dad.’ If the song’s horrible, everybody’s going to be like, ‘He’s not as good as his dad,' ” the musician said.
They both have a fear of flying
In 2008, Travis and his longtime collaborator and friend DJ AM (Adam Michael Goldstein) survived a plane crash in South Carolina. It was a traumatizing experience for Travis, who stopped flying for 13 years afterward until he started dating Kardashian.
On one episode of The D’Amelio Show, Charli D’Amelio (Landon’s ex-girlfriend) made a comment about Landon being afraid of flying as well.
In a 2023 interview with PEOPLE, Landon talked about the phobia, saying that it’s something that affects him every time he flies but not something he brings up to his dad because he knows how hard it is for him.
“It’s just the worst phobia to have,” he said. “I honestly do love traveling. I really, really do.” He said that he has taken medication in an attempt to lessen the fear and takes some comfort in his older sister, Atiana.
“I’ll just look at her face the whole entire time and she’ll be like, ‘Everything’s OK,’ even when it feels rocky, and she’ll always help me out while I’m flying," he shared.
Travis is very supportive of Landon
Landon and Travis have a close relationship and both respect and support each. In a 2022 interview with E! News, Landon talked about their bond, saying, “He’s always in my corner. He’s always there for me as I am for him.”
Travis often posts photos of Landon on his Instagram along with sweet captions about how much he appreciates him.
In June 2022, he shared a photo of Landon and himself to celebrate Landon’s graduation. He captioned it, “It has been a great pleasure and honor to raise you and I can’t wait to witness all the amazing things you’re going to do and become.”
Landon is also close with Kardashian
Kardashian became Landon’s stepmother when she married Travis in May 2022.
During the couple’s wedding in Italy, Landon gave a speech where he praised both his dad and Kardashian. “You look out for me like a mother and have always had my back,” he said.
Later that fall, Landon posted a photo with Travis, Kardashian and her two younger kids Reign and Penelope. In the caption, he wrote, “@kourtneykardashian I’m so thankful for you and I love you guys!”
In February 2023, the two even filmed a cute TikTok video together. The video was made to a trending version of the song “Sure Thing” by Miguel, and in the clip, Kardashian is sitting next to Landon, wearing a hoodie and sunglasses while eating in a restaurant.
As Landon lip-syncs and makes hand gestures to the song, Kardashian can be seen laughing.
