LAPD Clears Pro-Palestine Camp at USC, Dismantling Tents

Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers cleared a pro-Palestine encampment from the University of Southern California (USC) campus in the early hours of Sunday, May 5, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Footage filmed by Corinne Smith showed LAPD officers in riot gear mobilizing on the USC campus before moving into the encampment. As officers surrounded the encampment, the protesters could be heard chanting “free, free Palestine.”

Smith said officers dismantled tents from the encampment and then left. No protesters remained at the encampment, according to Smith.

KTLA reported that as many as 100 people were in the encampment located in Alumni Park. It was not immediately known if any arrests were made.

This was the second sweep of a USC encampment. The LAPD arrested 93 people on suspicion of trespassing late last month and cleared the encampment at the center of campus. Credit: Corinne Smith via Storyful
