Large Crash Causes Tailback on Illinois Interstate

A large crash prompted Illinois State Police to close all southbound and northbound lanes of Interstate 55 in northern Montgomery County on Monday, May 1.

The crash was reported to have involved multiple vehicles and happened near Farmersville, outside of Springfield.

The National Weather Service said a combination of newly plowed fields and gusty northwest winds produced a dust storm in the area at the time of the crash. Credit: @leyla_a via Storyful
