Large Waterspout Swirls Over Darwin Harbour

A waterspout was seen swirling near Darwin Harbour in the Northern Territory on Wednesday, March 15.

Video recorded by Taryn Hirst shows the large water sport spinning for several minutes.

Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Billy Lynch told local media Wednesday’s weather conditions were prime for waterspout formations.

“When the atmosphere is very buoyant and its also very humid, the clouds grow very rapidly and the quicker they grow the better chance there is of a waterspout forming,” Lynch said. Credit: Taryn Hirst via Storyful
