Larry David Confronted Elon Musk Over ‘Hate’-Filled Tweets: ‘How Could You Vote Republican?’

Larry David did not curb his dislike of Elon Musk while at a wedding.

The “Curb Your Enthusiasm” creator confronted Twitter AKA “X” owner Musk during agent Ari Emanuel’s 2022 wedding, as captured in new biography “Elon Musk,” written by Walter Isaacson.

David and Musk were sitting at the same table during the wedding reception, which led David to ask Musk, “Do you just want to murder kids in schools?” in an excerpt from the book (via The New York Post). The wedding took place four days following the Uvalde, Texas school shooting massacre.

Per the biography, Musk replied, “I’m anti-kid murder,” to which “Seinfeld” creator David asked, “Then how could you vote Republican?”

David later confirmed the encounter to biographer Isaacson, telling the author, “His tweets about voting Republican because Democrats were the party of division and hate were sticking in my craw. Even if Uvalde never happened, I probably would have brought it up, because I was angry and offended.”

MSNBC “Morning Joe” co-anchor Joe Scarborough was also present at the same table with David and Musk; the news reporter called their encounter “all pretty amusing,” especially since groom Emanuel seated Scarborough specifically next to Musk as he is “not a big fan of Elon.”

This isn’t the first time David has confronted a disgraced public figure: While at a Martha’s Vineyard grocery store, David approached lawyer Alan Dershowitz who has ties to Harvey Weinstein, Jeffrey Epstein, and Donald Trump. David allegedly told Dershowitz it was “disgusting” to be associated with Trump’s Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, among his other cohorts. Pompeo was a former law student of Dershowitz’s, and the two reunited while at an event celebrating the Abraham Accords movement towards peace in Israel. David was referencing the coverage of Dershowitz and Pompeo together.

Dershowitz later said of the encounter, “He called me disgusting, and he said he could never talk to me. Here’s a guy who used to come to our house to work out in the gym. He would come to our house for dinner two or three times a summer. We’re friends. I represented him twice pro bono. Suddenly, just because of that and because, obviously, my defense of Trump, that has happened.”
