TV stars Larry Lamb and Jamie-Lee O'Donnell have shot scenes for a new programme inside a popular café in Newcastle.

Larry, 76, who has starred in Gavin & Stacey and Eastenders, and Jamie-Lee, 37, who is best known for her role in Derry Girls, were filming inside Aidan's Kitchen in Sandyford on Monday evening.

The pair are currently starring in a new show which is being produced by Lonesome Pine Productions for Channel 5.

The majority of Starbeck Avenue was cordoned off on Monday while the crew shot scenes in the café and on nearby Kelvin Grove. They are understood to still be filming in the Jesmond area of Newcastle.

Aidan Jackson, who owns Aidan's Kitchen on Starbeck Avenue, said he allowed the crew to film inside his café. However he said he does not know what the programme will be called.

The 27-year-old told Chronicle Live: "We had a film crew in for a programme, we don't know what it is. They were on the street and in the café on the night time. We stayed open to serve them cake and coffee.

"We knew Jamie-Lee was coming but we didn't know about Larry Lamb. We didn't know Larry Lamb was here until he walked through the door! Jamie-Lee was really friendly and so was Larry.

"They were acting out in the café. They went over the same scene about 10,000 times. They didn't change that much of the café. We have been told the name is still going to be kept the same. It's great, it will be mint if they get it in!

"As far as I'm aware, it's going to be quite a big series."

It is not yet known what the show is going to be called or when it will air on Channel 5. Chronicle Live has contacted Lonesome Pine Productions and Channel 5 for more information.
