LaRue 72-year-old fatally shoots wife, sheriff says

LARUE, Texas (KETK) – Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse said that a man was arrested on Wednesday after he allegedly shot and killed his wife before turning the gun on himself on Saturday.

According to Hillhouse, Henderson County deputies responded to a reported murder suicide at 8:56 a.m. on Saturday. Hillhouse said that a man had shot and killed his wife before shooting himself.

Raymond Franklin Wade, 72 of LaRue, has been hospitalized and was placed under arrest on Wednesday after being arraigned by Smith County Justice of the Peace Judge Andy Dunklin.

An autopsy was done on Wade’s wife Rhonda’s body on Monday. According to Hillhouse, the two were having marital issues when the shooting happened.

As of Thursday, Wade is still in the hospital and his bond has been set at $1 million.
