Taylor Swift will be heading to the city after wrapping up her final night performing in Edinburgh this weekend. But it isn't her first time in Liverpool.

In April last year, the superstar spent several days in the city filming a music video. At the time, it was believed she jetted into Liverpool John Lennon Airport during a short break from the US-leg of The Eras Tour

Several sightings were reported by fans, with some claiming they had spotted Swift at the Cunard Building, on the Pier Head. Roads in the area were closed on April 8 with filming equipment and vehicles spotted outside the historic Cunard Building.

@dnrhds previously said: "Turns out we were just around the corner from where Taylor Swift was filming her new music video in Liverpool on Saturday afternoon." @lofibaej said: "Guys is Taylor Swift actually in Liverpool filming because I went the other day past the building she's supposedly at and saw a lot of cameras."

One fan theory was that Swift was in the city to film a Batman-themed music video, inspired by The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson, which was filmed largely in Liverpool. Liverpool-based Taylor fans took to X, formerly Twitter, to share their feelings on the matter.

User @nicotinemoon previously said: "Can’t believe Taylor swift was in Liverpool literally a half an hour walk from me last night."

After speculation, in July last year the rumours were proven to be true as Taylor showed off the beauty of Liverpool in a new music video following the release of her re-recorded album, Speak Now.

Taylor released a music video for a never heard before "vault track" I Can See You, which showed off some of Liverpool's landmark buildings. The video features actress Joey King and Twilight actor and Taylor's ex-boyfriend Taylor Lautner.

In 2010, Joey and Presley starred in Taylor Swift's music video for single Mean, also from the Speak Now album. Joey and Taylor Lautner, along with writer and musician Presley Cash work together in the music video to free Taylor Swift from a vault, which appears to be located inside the Cunard Building.

Tweeting about the video after its release, Taylor Swift said she was "so proud" of the Liverpool-based music video. She said: "WELL. SO. I’ve been counting down for months and finally the ‘I Can See You’ video is out. I wrote this video treatment over a year ago and really wanted to play out symbolically how it’s felt for me to have the fans helping me reclaim my music.

"I had my heart set on Joey King, Taylor Lautner and Presley Cash starring in it. Joey and Presley had been in the video for ‘Mean’ when they were 9 and 13 and they are back and so ridiculously bad ass!!

"Taytay is INCREDIBLE in this (didn’t have a stunt double!) and shout out to Tay Lautner for being so awesome to hang with on set. The Tale of 3 Taylors.

"I always wanted to direct fight scenes/a heist storyline and had the most incredible time plotting this out with my amazing DP Jonathan Sela. So proud of this one."

In the video Joey is seen leaving a van on Castle Street before "breaking in" to a room inside the Cunard Building (the interior was filmed in the old NatWest on Castle Street (soon to host a new Elif) which is full of glass boxes with former outfits Taylor Swift has worn on previous tours and music videos. Joey is joined by Lautner as they start fighting a gang of masked men inside the iconic building.

Once Swift is freed from the vault all three of the celebs are seen running out of a side door of the Cunard Building on Water Street. Moments later the door is blown up behind them. A clip at the end of the video shows a white van driving by Tobacco Warehouse on Regent Street.

Last summer, fans were ecstatic when Taylor Swift announced she was bringing The Eras Tour to Anfield for three nights. The gigs are the only performances taking place in the north west of England.

Taylor Swift fans are convinced something massive will be happening when the superstar arrives in Liverpool later this week. Swifties know all too well the Reputation singer loves celebrating a landmark and there's one coming up when she plays in Anfield Stadium.

Taylor Swift's 100th show of the Eras Tour takes place on Thursday, June 13. Some fans are also speculating she will bring out a special guest - Paul McCartney.
