Speaking about the dress ahead of its red-carpet debut, Sánchez told the magazine, “In my head, it’s definitely a metaphor for life, because it’s a little bit about all your broken pieces in life and putting those pieces back together."
"It's not just a dress," she added. "It is really a piece of art."
The former journalist wore her hair down in a simple, wavy style and kept her makeup minimal because, as she told Vogue, her "best accessory" is longtime love Bezos.
The Amazon billionaire, 60, let his fiancée shine in a classic black tuxedo and bow tie.

The theme of “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” ties into the the upcoming Costume Institute exhibit that will feature approximately 250 items — including 15 significant pieces such as an 1877 Charles Frederick Worth silk satin ball gown — that span more than 400 years of history.

It might be their first Met Gala, but this certainly isn’t the first time Sánchez and Bezos have made a splash with their fashion choices. On April 10, Sánchez turned heads in a sexy red corset dress while accompanying Bezos to a White House state dinner honoring Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his wife, Yuko.
Sánchez and Bezos have had more casual date nights, too. The pair attended Lana Del Rey’s performance at Coachella on Friday, April 12 alongside Corey Gamble, who is dating Kris Jenner. They were photographed standing in the V.I.P. section at the event's main stage, Sánchez in a cream-colored halter top and jeans and Bezos in a jean jacket, white shirt and blue jeans.
