Law & Order, the granddaddy of procedural dramas, was recently announced to be returning from its 11 year break, and picking up where it left off with season 21.

Creator Dick Wolf has already teased that things will be carrying on as if the show had never been off the air, with the implication being that as many cast members are going to return from before as possible.

One actor who teased his return, without outright stating that it was happening, was Anthony Anderson, who played Detective Kevin Bernard on the show, and has also starred in Black-ish and worked as a gameshow host.

Speaking to American syndicated talk show host Rachel Ray in an upcoming episode (via Deadline), the actor said: "I did have a conversation with Dick Wolf. I will just say that. So, we'll see what the future holds."

The publication states that multiple former stars have been approached about reprising their roles, with Sam Waterson's name being specifically dropped.

Speaking this week about how the revival will be like putting on a comfy old pair of slippers (but with crime), Wolf stated: "There's really nothing to fix, we just want to continue telling great stories. Casting as always will be three cops and three DAs.

"We always approach storytelling the same way: good writing, acting and production values, and give the viewers what they want. That's been our mantra from day one...

"The last three seasons of the Wednesday Chicago stack and now the Tuesday FBIs and Thursday Law & Orders prove that traditional television viewers will binge on the comfort food of our brands."

Well, we never could commit to going on a diet. Roll on the return!

Law & Order: SVU airs Thursdays on NBC in the US. The show airs on Sky Witness in the UK, with select episodes available on NOW.
