They should’ve counted their chickens.

At least 15 crates of live chickens were found in the streets of Brooklyn early Monday after falling off a poultry truck that then took flight, threatening fowl traffic delays.

The crates were bizarrely found blocking the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway’s Cadman Plaza exit ramp around 6 a.m., an NYPD spokesperson told The Post.

They started falling off a white box truck near Jay Street and Sands Street — but then littered a two-block stretch just ahead of the BQE, police said.

Video shows police officers quickly clearing the crates of live chickens from the road near the intersection of Old Fulton Street and Hicks Street, with the birds clucking frantically.

Other footage shows cars drivers passing slowly, wondering why the chickens were across the road.

The birds were safely removed from the road and taken to a secure location, police said. It was unclear exactly how many chickens were in each of the crates.

It was also unclear what company the truck toting the chickens belonged to or who was responsible for their abandonment.

The poultry truck driver was nowhere to be found after the incident, police said.
