At Least One Dead After Roof Collapse at Illinois Theater in Strong Winds

At least one person died and 28 others were injured after the roof and marquee collapsed during a concert in Belvidere, Illinois, on Friday, March 31, during strong winds.

Belvidere Fire Chief Shawn Schadle said around 260 people were in the Apollo Theater for the concert, which was scheduled to begin at 7 pm and featured several death metal bands. The collapse happened around 30 minutes into the concert, he said.
