At Least One Person Injured During Protests Against Evictions in Barcelona

At least one person was injured after scuffles broke out between police and protesters in Barcelona on February 21.

According to local news reports more than one hundred people gathered at number 106 Carrer del Carme to protest against a “large-scale eviction” in Barcelona’s Raval neighborhood.

This footage, filmed by David Melero, shows confrontations between police and protesters crammed along Carrer del Carme, before a man is wheeled away on a stretcher and into an ambulance.

Protest organizers Sindicat Habitatge Raval (Raval Housing Union) said in an X post that they had stopped two out of four evictions.

In another post the union said a second protester had been injured during scuffles with police. Storyful cannot verify this claim. Credit: David Melero via Storyful
