Leeds Rhinos land Wigan Warriors prop but miss out on Jake Connor amid injury crisis

Leeds Rhinos have named Wigan Warriors forward Sam Eseh in their squad for Friday's clash with Leigh Leopards. The young forward has joined the club on a short-term loan after it was revealed that the Rhinos have lost FOUR players to concussion protocols.

Rugby League Live had previously revealed that both Ash Handley and Harry Newman would miss the game after injuries they picked up against Hull FC. But it has now been confirmed that Tom Holroyd and Sam Lisone will also miss the match, with the quartet all stood down as a consequence of the RFL concussion protocols.

That has seen Leeds move for Eseh, who previously had a short loan spell at Castleford Tigers earlier in the season. He is in his first year at Wigan having joined the club from Wakefield Trinity in the off-season. The Rhinos also tried to secure Jake Connor on loan, but were unsuccessful.

It means Leeds are without seven players due to concussion protocols, with Andy Ackers and James Bentley still out. Meanwhile, Morgan Gannon has been ruled out for the season. Toby Warren, Ben Littlewood and Matty Russell have all been named in Rohan Smith's 21-man squad.

Leeds Rhinos 21-man squad: Lachie Miller, David Fusitu'a, Paul Momirovski, Brodie Croft, Matt Frawley, Mikolaj Oledzki, Rhyse Martin, Cameron Smith, Jarrod O'Connor, James McDonnell, Justin Sangare, Mickael Goudemand, Jack Sinfield, Corey Johnson, Toby Warren, Alfie Edgell, Tom Nicholson-Watton, Ned McCormack, Ben Littlewood, Matty Russell, Sam Eseh.
