Leeds United dealt major Patrick Bamford injury blow but Daniel James could play vs Norwich City

Patrick Bamford will miss both legs of Leeds United's Championship play-off semi-final with Norwich City. The striker, who has rediscovered his goal-scoring touch in 2024 and established himself as the focal point of Daniel Farke's attack, has not played since the Whites' pulsating 4-3 win Middlesbrough on April 22 due to a knee injury.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference this afternoon ahead of Sunday's trip to Carrow Road, Whites chief Farke said: "Patrick will definitely miss both legs. He has seen a different knee consultant and here is minor trauma in his patellar tendon. He definitely needs a couple of weeks to recover."

"It's important that others step up, some others will get our nod and the whole squad has my backing and trust. We don’t feel too sorry for ourselves."

Farke has confirmed Wales international Daniel James could return to action this weekend. The wide man has sat-out the last two fixtures due to tearing an abdominal muscle at the Riverside.

Wales international James has enjoyed arguably the best year of his career, bagging 13 goals and contributing eight assists in the Whites' promotion charge. United badly missed James and Bamford's experience and quality in the run-in, suffering back-to-back defeats at the hands of Queens Park Rangers and Southampton to finish third in the Championship.

"Daniel James is making good progress," said Farke. "He's coming closer and close.

"There's a chance he will be available. It will depend on the next 48 hours."
