Another loan deal for Darko Gyabi is expected to go through imminently at Leeds United with the midfielder returning to Plymouth Argyle. The 20-year-old was sent to Home Park in January having been deemed surplus to requirements by Daniel Farke, but injury caught it short.

Gyabi was able to rack up 10 appearances, but the last of them came on March 9, two months short of the season finale. The former Manchester City midfielder suffered a groin injury in training which would ultimately require surgery and ended his campaign early.

With pre-season about to start, another season-long loan has been agreed with the Pilgrims, who are now led by England legend Wayne Rooney. Gyabi had previously worked under Ian Foster in Devon, but Rooney and the Argyle hierarchy have seen enough to bring the Leeds man back.

Gyabi was given a brief look at first-team football by Farke last August as he pieced together his team at Elland Road. A start against Shrewsbury Town in the EFL Cup ended with a half-time withdrawal that told the manager he was not ready for a major part at the club.

There are two years still to run on the four-year contract Gyabi signed in 2022. The England youth international arrived from City off the back of Kalvin Phillips’s switch to Etihad Stadium, but his first-team breakthrough is yet to be established.

Archie Gray and Charlie Cresswell are also expected to seal moves away from Leeds in the near future. Gray is bound for Tottenham Hotspur in a deal worth at least £40m, while Cresswell is heading to Toulouse in Ligue 1 for around £4m.
