Leeds United's Charlie Cresswell was involved in a collision with a police vehicle outside Elland Road Stadium, resulting in injuries to an officer.

It comes just hours before Leeds United's crucial Championship Play-Off Semi-Final second leg match tonight. West Yorkshire Police confirmed that one of their officers required medical attention following the crash involving Cresswell's £50,000-plus Land Rover Defender.

The accident happened at 10.13am today (Thursday, May 16), near the West Stand Ticket Office, right by the entrance used by staff and players, reports Leeds Live.

Images from the scene show significant damage to the police car, with its bodywork torn away on the left side and the front passenger tyre fully exposed. Positioned behind the damaged police vehicle is Cresswell's Land Rover Defender, which has a starting price of around £56,000.

Despite the incident, Leeds United has stated that Cresswell will be fit to play in tonight's game against Norwich City, with both teams entering the match on a level playing field after a 0-0 draw.

A police spokesperson provided details of the event: "At 10.13am today (Thursday), police were notified of a collision involving a police car and a Land Rover Defender on Elland Road, Leeds."

They added: "An officer received medical treatment for minor injuries. No other injuries were reported. Enquiries are ongoing."

While Leeds United chose not to issue a statement, they did confirm that their centre-back Cresswell was involved in the accident.
