Leeds United transfer bulletin as £5m midfielder 'agrees loan deal' to join Championship rivals

Midfielder Darko Gyabi looks set to rejoin Leeds United's Championship rivals Plymouth Argyle. A Football Insider report says Gyabi has agreed to move to the Pilgrims on a season-long loan.

Gyabi joined the Devon outfit on a temporary basis back in January, having struggled for minutes under Whites boss Daniel Farke. He made 10 appearances for Argyle during his two and a half months at Home Park. Gyabi was forced to return to Elland Road at the end of March after suffering a season-ending groin injury.

The 20-year-old, who joined the Whites from Manchester City for a fee in the region of £5m in 2022 when Jesse Marsch was at the helm, still has two more years left to run on his current United deal. He featured just two times for United prior to his Plymouth loan move, with Farke preferring the likes of Archie Gray, Glen Kamara, Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev in the middle of the park.

Plymouth head into the 2024/25 campaign under new management following the appointment of Wayne Rooney as their new head coach. Rooney has taken over the reins from Ian Foster, who was sacked in April following a poor run of results.

If Gyabi does make a return to Home Park, he will follow Sonny Perkins out of the Elland Road exit door. Perkins joins League One side Leyton Orient on a season-long loan deal earlier this week. Perkins, who was previously part of the Orient academy before moving away to West Ham at U15's level, said: "It's really special to be back.

"I've been here so many times in the stands and as a ball boy and I'm looking forward to getting out on the pitch in front of the fans for the first time. Having people who have known me for a long time made the decision easier to come back here."
