Leicester City are reportedly ready to make a €25m (£21m) offer for Juventus winger Matias Soule.

City were linked with the Argentinian wide-man earlier in the summer and their interest has not waned, according to Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio. He says City have indicated they are willing to place a big offer for the 21-year-old.

However, that figure wouldn’t be enough to convince Juventus to part with Soule. To do that, City may have to bid more than €30m (£25m). Soule’s reputation has risen after an excellent season on loan at Frosinone in Serie A. Amid their relegation, the winger impressed.

He finished as their top scorer with 11 goals, and while he only added three assists, the stats suggest he should have had far more. He registered the most key passes in Serie A last season, while only Napoli and Italian international full-back Giovanni Di Lorenzo completed more passes into the penalty area. Soule looks to be a fine dribbler of the ball too. He led Serie A for carries into the final third and successful take-ons.

From a City perspective, it is interesting that Soule most regularly played as a right-sided winger, so that he could cut in onto his left foot. That’s the position Abdul Fatawu will expect to hold once his arrival is confirmed, potentially giving manager Steve Cooper a selection headache. However, Soule did finish the campaign at Frosinone in more of a central role, playing just behind the striker.

If Soule was to join, there would be a familiar face waiting for him too. Caleb Okoli, the centre-back City are set to sign in a £13m deal from Atalanta, also spent last season on loan at Frosinone.
