Leicester City have one foot in the Premier League with just three more points required to get over the line.

A season’s-best performance over Southampton on Tuesday put them on the brink of an immediate return to the top flight and stirred up the euphoria associated with a promotion campaign, an emotion that has been peculiarly lacking up to now. Now all eyes turn to Leeds and Ipswich so City know what they need on Monday night at Preston.

Intriguingly, City’s five-star display against the Saints came in spite of a lack of possession. That’s been one of the big talking points in recent days, and how much the victory was influenced by Enzo Maresca’s tactics.

Also being discussed are the futures of Abdul Fatawu and Jamie Vardy. The hat-trick hero could join the club this summer, but it’s a little complicated while they’re under an embargo. With Vardy, he’s coming to the end of his contract. But as top scorer, it feels more and more like he’s going to get a one-year deal.

Elsewhere, the season-ticket saga does not look like dying down. Fans are angered by a £25 charge for a physical season card as the club look to direct supporters towards mobile ticketing.
