Leicestershire-linked man sought by police after woman raped in park

A man with Leicestershire links is sought in connection with a rape at a park. Increased patrols have been put in place by police following the incident.

Amrit Chahal is sought by West Midlands Police following the incident which happened on Wednesday, May 1 in Coventry’s Gosford Park. The victim, a woman in her 20s, reported being raped in the park at around 12.20am.

Officers are investigating the incident and have issued an appeal to trace Chahal. The 23-year-old is believed to hold information about the rape and officers wish to speak with him.

West Midlands Police say Chahal has links to Coventry, but also has known links to Leicestershire and Walsall. Police have called on anyone who knows where he is to get in touch with them as soon as possible.

Officers have also said they have increased patrols in the Gosford Park area in the wake of the rape to offer reassurance to the community. They have called on any witnesses or those who have information relating to Chahal’s whereabouts to contact them.
