An empty building on Lincoln High Street will soon be transformed into a multi-use leisure venue with a bowling alley after plans were approved. The former Boots store has been empty for several years but plans are in place to bring it back to life.

The large and colourful imp mural which once covered the shopfront has been replaced with Gutterball logos, a brand owned by Lane 7 who operate several family entertainment venues around the UK. The venues incorporate ten pin bowling at their heart, with pool tables, ping pong, shuffle board and arcade/gaming zones.

Works to be carried out will consist of a complete internal refit of the building as well as minor alterations to the exterior. Within the planning application, building owners Crown Alderney Ltd said that the venue would "add to the offers currently available within the centre and aid in maintaining its viability by providing a mix of high quality units."

They argued that the plans would bring the empty building "back to life" and provide around 50 employment opportunities. An opening date for the venue is not set in stone but work at the site appears to be underway.
