Lenny Henry To Join Cast Of Broadchurch Despite Branding Show Racist

Lenny Henry has done a huge U-turn to appear in Broadchurch.

The comedian, below, recently blasted TV stations because he “rarely saw a black face” in their dramas.

And he singled out the crime thriller, saying: “Mixed race boyfriend of sister of deceased, thank you very much for putting that in there, so there was somebody in there.”

Actress Charlotte Rampling, who appeared in the show last year, had a go at Sir Lenny over his diversity rants.

She said the row was “racist'” against white people. He hit back saying: “I’ve bought a house next to Charlotte Rampling. We get on like a house on fire. Her house is going to be… .”

The Daily Mirror reports his role in the drama has yet to be revealed, but he will be joined by veteran comedy actor Roy Hudd.

Filming for series three began yesterday in Dorset as David Tennant and Olivia Colman reprised their roles.

Writer Chris Chibnall told the Mirror: “This is the final chapter of Broadchurch.”
