LeVar Burton Is In 'No Mood' to Be Disrespected by American Airlines

LeVar Burton can fly twice as high, but he may have to do it in business class.

The Reading Rainbow host and Star Trek: The Next Generation actor, 60, had a turbulent flight on American Airlines on Sunday and sounded off on Twitter about the “disrespect” he says he experienced.

Burton was bumped from first class to business on a recent flight from Chicago O’Hare to Los Angeles, despite having paid for two seats in the pricier section. On Sunday, he called out the airline on twitter, tagging American, he wrote “I’m in NO MOOD for disrespect.”

In a series of tweets, the Roots actor-producer also detailed an unpleasant exchange with a flight attendant on board, during which Burton says, he asked for a blanket and was told to “put on a sweater, honey.” He added, “Yes, I’m referring to you, flight attendant, manning the door on @American Air #2225! Your attitude leaves MUCH to be desired!”

American responded on twitter, asking the actor, whose new podcast, Levar Burton Reads, launches June 13, to “meet us in DMs” so they could investigate the incident.

Burton’s fans (including nearly 2 million Twitter followers) had his back, responding to his tweet with supportive messages.

Burton is far from the first celeb to sound off on social media about bad customer service on a flight. Model Coco Rocha took to Instagram in May with a similar complaint about being bumped from her first class seat to economy by Air France and Karlie Kloss called out Philippine Airlines, writing on Snapchat, “No one flies Philippine Airlines and now I know why,” and later tweeting that the airline had been “rude and disrespectful. Shame on you.”
