Lewis Ferguson has booked into a specialist FIFA medical centre in a bid to return to fitness in time for his side's first campaign in the Champions League for 60 years.

The Bologna skipper played a pivotal role in the team that claimed a fifth place finish in Serie A last season to claim a shot at Europe's elite, scoring six goals in 31 league matches. However, the former Hamilton Accies and Aberdeen star then suffered a severe knee injury during a goalless draw with Monza back in April, ruling him out for the remainder of the season and robbing him of the chance at representing Scotland at Euro 2024.

A knee operation for the ACL injury was successful, but no timeline has officially been set for Ferguson's return. But according to Cor Sport (via tuttobolognaweb), Ferguson is back from holiday during the off-season as he targets a return to action in October, shortly after the revamped Champions League gets underway. They add that the 24-year-old is working hard at Isokinetic, FIFA's medical centre of excellence in the city of Bologna in order to meet his target.
