Liam Payne has revealed he once had a boozy night with his team in which his bar bill was only heading in one direction — through the roof.

The 27-year-old former boyband star said in an Instagram Live video that he had learned how to make cocktails ahead of the night in Brazil, racking up a tab of more than £30,000.

The huge bill would be the equivalent of buying 2,000 bottles of vodka from a supermarket, or more than 8,000 pints of beer at the average UK cost.

"My favourite memory of Brazil, I racked up a 30 grand bar bill pouring my own drinks," said the Strip that Down singer.

He added: "I learned to make cocktails for the crew and at the end of the night was DJing and someone gave me the bill.

"I was like: 'I'm not paying for drinks that I was making for other people'.

"Didn't get any tips from the team, everyone left me with the bill so I put it on someone else's room. Then I jumped in the pool, forgetting I had expensive shoes on."

Payne has recently updated fans on a period of illness, which has allowed him time to switch off and spend time with his son Bear.

The four-year-old is Payne's son with his ex-partner — former Girls Aloud member and X Factor judge Cheryl — from whom he split in 2018.

Payne also revealed that he recently had a "lovely" phone call with his former One Direction bandmate Harry Styles, sparking rumours that a reunion could be on the cards.

“He called me because he has a sixth sense for if I’m struggling or if one of us is in trouble, I feel like,” Payne said during his Instagram Q&A.

He added: “I spoke to him and it was a really lovely catch up actually. And I’ve got a lot of love for the man. He’s great, he’s really, really great.”
