Lighthouse Management + Media Signs Laura Kosann, Buzzy Filmmaker Tapped To Script ‘Hi, Mom’ Remake

EXCLUSIVE: Lighthouse Management + Media has signed buzzy writer-director Laura Kosann for representation in all areas.

A fast-rising star, Kosann was a 2021 Academy Nicholl Fellow and has had three features on The Black List in the last two years.

Currently, she is scripting Sony’s English-language remake of Hi, Mom, the Chinese film from director Jia Ling which, before Barbie, was the highest-grossing pic helmed by a solo female director. Escape Artists’ Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch and Becky Sanderman will produce alongside Wenxin She (A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood).

Previously, Kosann adapted the comic book Mercy Sparx for MGM, with The Picture Company producing. She’s rewriting the live-action musical Santa Is Real, which Stephen Chbosky (Dear Evan Hansen) is set to direct for Amazon and Shiny Penny Productions, and is also working on a horror project for a streamer that is currently under wraps. Additionally, her Black Listed sci-fi thriller script, Semper Maternus, is being produced by Stacey Sher and her Shiny Penny Productions.

Kosann made her feature directorial and screenwriting debut with The Social Ones, a mockumentary that won the Audience Award for Best Comedy at Cinequest. She also wrote, directed and produced Veo Veo A Family, a short film starring starring Carla Gugino and Tony-Award winner KO (formerly Karen Olivo), which was sponsored by The Black List and United Postal Service’s Be Unstoppable Film Project.

Additionally, Kosann is the co-founder of online lifestyle magazine and production company, The New Potato. Featuring chic content, playful stories, and profiles on people like Lester Holt, Jodie Comer and Ato Blankston-Wood, The New Potato has been featured in Vogue, Instyle and New York Magazine. Kosann has written, directed, and produced video shorts for TNP that have been featured on both Access Hollywood and The Today Show, as well as large-scale video campaigns for brands like Kate Spade, Mattel and PepsiCo. Previously, she worked at the Delacorte Theater and produced content for Showtime.

Other notable clients of Lighthouse Management + Media include Olivia Rodrigo, Jennifer Aniston, Selena Gomez, Jason Bateman, Nina Dobrev, Gwyneth Paltrow, Paul Rudd, Laura Linney, Billy Crudup, Mark Ruffalo, Topher Grace, Justin Theroux and Emily Mortimer, to name a few.

Kosann continues to be represented by CAA and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.
