These are the final moments of nine-year-old Lilia Valutyte, who was stabbed to death in the street shortly after the footage of her playing with her younger sister was captured.

CCTV video shows Lilia and her younger sister on the street in Boston, Lincolnshire, on 28 July – just yards from an office where their mother was working at the time.

The girls can be seen enjoying themselves and playing with a hula-hoop and a toy pram.

At around 6.20pm, 10 minutes after the footage was taken, Lilia died after suffering what is believed to be a stab wound in Fountain Lane.

The footage shows police and paramedics rushing to the scene, before bystanders stop to watch the tragedy unfolding.

Deividas Skebas, 22, was arrested on Saturday and charged with murder after a CCTV appeal following Lilia’s death.

The Lithuanian national was remanded into custody at Lincoln Crown Court on Monday, where he was not required to enter a plea to the charge.

Wearing a prison-issued grey tracksuit, he spoke only to confirm his name and was told a provisional trial date would be set at the next court hearing.

Skebas, of Thorold Street, Boston, was detained after four CCTV images were released of a man detectives said they wished to trace.

The CCTV showed a man in the Wormgate and Fountain Lane area of Boston at 6.15pm on Thursday, five minutes before Lilia was found dead.

Police also said two people who were arrested earlier this week have now been released with no further action.

Remanding Skebas into custody, judge Simon Hirst told the defendant: “You will be next before the court on 19 September.

“I hope on that date I can give you a trial date, that is to say a date when your trial can take place.

“In the meantime you are remanded into custody.”

Earlier on Monday, Skebas appeared at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court where he spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth during a two-minute hearing.

Lincolnshire Police said Lilia's parents continue to be supported by specially trained officers while investigations continue.

A force spokesperson said: "Their welfare continues to be a priority for us."

Chief Superintendent Martyn Parker added: “This is a heartbreaking case that has affected many people in Boston, and further afield.

“Our thoughts continue to be with Lilia’s family at this exceptionally difficult time.”
