Lily Allen has come under fire for complaining about a baby crying onboard an aeroplane.

The Smile singer posted a photo on her Instagram stories - which has since been deleted - of the passengers in the seat in front of her on an easyJet flight to Italy.

Allen, who has two young daughters, wrote on the picture: “This baby tho, been crying for 45 mins straight [sic]”

One of the singer’s followers told MailOnline she responded to the photo, accusing Allen of “mum shaming.”

The follower said Allen replied to her message, asking: “Do you see a mum?” before blocking her on Instagram.

The 34-year-old singer is mother to daughters Ethel, seven, and Marnie, six, who she rarely includes in her social media posts. She split from their father, Sam Cooper, in 2015 and they divorced amicably last year, sharing joint custody of the girls.

Allen discussed motherhood in an interview with Dolly Alderton's Love Stories podcast earlier this year.

She said: “My children are amazing little human beings. They are just an endless source of joy and entertainment - I'm fascinated by them.”

Allen said of her desire to have children: “I know how I feel about my mum and I think I just thought I would like unconditional love in my life.

“It was purely selfish. Not when I made the decision to have kids but I just always visualised myself with kids and a husband and a house in the country and happily ever after. A big part of that is [wanting] love, unconditional love.”
