Lily Allen says she was so embarrassed about having liposuction she lied to an ex claiming the scars left by the cosmetic procedure were from a hip replacement surgery.

Allen, 35, shared the information during an informal Q&A on her Instagram stories. No topic was out of bounds and one of her followers asked: “Ever had any cosmetic procedures?”

She replied: “Yeah I had lipo once on my bum many years ago.”

“I was with this guy and he was like ‘what are those scars?’ and I was so embarrassed that I said, ‘it’s from a hip replacement’.”

When asked about married life, she added: “You know, it’s kind of fab. I can’t complain. My husband is a delight and I’m feeling pretty good these days.”

The newlyweds tied the knot in September last year in a low-key ceremony in Las Vegas. Allen wore a Sixties-inspired Dior dress paired with a veil.

The couple were married by an Elvis impersonator and were joined by Allen’s daughters Ethel and Marnie. The pair then kept their reception intimate, eating takeaway burgers at In-N-Out.
