Lily Allen has revealed the backstory to how she met her new husband, Stranger Things actor David Harbour.

In a new interview with The Sunday Times Style, the singer and mum-of-two said they matched on the dating app Roya which is a favourite with celebrities.

'He was shooting a film in London, playing a Russian character,' she explained, admitting that it was 'a little bit' love at first sight.

'We went to the Wolesley [a London hotel] – I'm so posh!... And, by the way, it was my first date ever. I had never been on a date! I was so anxious.'

Lily said she hadn't watched the cult Netflix show Harbour stars in as police chief Hopper before they met, 'but now I have. It's great. He's great. Well I married him'.

The pair famously said their 'I dos' in a Las Vegas chapel back in September, with Lily wearing a gorgeous belted Dior mini dress that also has an interesting backstory.

'I found it an hour and a half before the ceremony,' she told Style, revealing that she was planning on wearing a different rental dress. Her 8-year-old daughter Ethel encouraged her to 'keep looking so we went to a few other shops'.

When Lily explained she was getting married, 'the girl in the shop said: "Well I've got this dress, it's not really a wedding dress..."'

The singer tried it on and her daughter looked up from the game she was playing on Lily's iPhone and said: 'I really don't think you're leaving the shop without it'. And that was that.

She also revealed that their relationship is different others she's experienced in the past. 'He's sober. I'm sober. So we get up early. We do stuff with the kids.'

Speaking of children, the singer said she would like to have more with Harbour 'especially now Marnie's getting so big'.
