WATCH: Lindsay Lohan posts video apology to Kettering

Last month, we were all left stunned when Lindsay Lohan agreed to turn on Kettering’s Christmas lights as an apology for dismissing the small Northamptonshire town.

But Lohan, unsurprisingly, was a no-show and has now admitted she was too “busy” to keep her promise.

Lohan got on the wrong side of Kettering and local Conservative Member of Parliament, Philip Hollobone, when she tweeted “Sorry Kettering but where are you?” after it was revealed the majority of residents there wanted to leave the E.U.

When Hollobone brought the matter up in Parliament later that week, the ‘Mean Girls’ actress apologised and said she’d kick off their festive activities by turning on their Xmas lights to make amends.

However, the closer it got to securing a date for the big switch on, the more it became apparent Lohan was not a gal who stays true to her word and the American star dodged all contact from the MP, with efforts to speak to her management falling on deaf ears.

Now the 30-year-old actress – who has been spending a lot of time in Turkey of late – has said in a video posted on Twitter: “I really wanted to make it but with my busy schedule I wasn’t able to and I appreciate the offer.”

#sorrynotsorry …

According to Maggie Don, a local Labour Party councillor, residents were indifferent to whether Lohan followed through on her commitment, telling Time magazine. “I don’t think they give a sh-t, to be honest. They don’t know who she is.”

Panto star and former EastEnders actress, Cheryl Fergison, is now set to light up Kettering.
